Neonatal Practice Development Nurse

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Neonatal Practice Development Nurse to join our dynamic Neonatal Unit at Frimley Health.
This rewarding role will place you at the heart of education and professional development within neonatal care. You will play a key role in inspiring, supporting, and developing pre- and post-registration staff, including student nurses, nursing associates, newly registered nurses undertaking preceptorship, and staff completing the QIS course.
Working collaboratively with the Paediatric and Neonatal Education Team, you will help create and sustain a high-quality learning environment, delivering innovative, neonate-specific education that supports excellence in clinical practice. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape future neonatal practitioners, influence standards of care, and make a meaningful difference to staff development across the service.

Main duties of the job
- To work in neonates supporting pre and post registration staff in clinical practice, developing the vision of education within the department.
- To line manager junior members of the education team as agreed with Matron Education Paediatrics and Neonates.
- To act as an active lead, linking between the clinical area and the Paediatric/Neonatal Education team.
- To be an active lead, support pre and post registration learners in the clinical setting.
- To ensure that the learning environment is suitable to pre-registration learners, their practice supervisors and assessors.

- Current NMC registrant
- Qualified in speciality
- Practice assessor or equivalent
- Up to date with mandatory training
Desirable criteria
- Registered children's nurse
Experience
Essential criteria
- Band 6 experience
- Recent experience of supervising, assessing and supporting students and learners
- Recent experience of supporting nursing staff in the NNU
- Recent experience as a nurse in charge within NNU
Desirable criteria
- Experience of clinical audit
- Experience of change management
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of preregistration education
- Ability to support staff working within NNU
- Excellent time management skills
- Completion of nurse in charge competency
- Highly motivated with a positive attitude
