Job overview

Are you a passionate and experienced nursing leader looking to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people? We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as the Directorate Head of Nursing for Children’s and Young People within the Women’s, Children’s and Support Services Division.

We are looking for a highly motivated paediatric nurse with significant clinical leadership experience to lead the cross-site Children and Young People’s directorate. This role will include responsibility for our two acute paediatric medical and surgical wards including co-located Paediatric assessment units, two local Neonatal units, a large paediatric ambulatory and outpatient department and oversight and close collaboration of children’s services across our trust.

 

This post holder will also hold responsibility for the Paediatric specialist services; Respiratory, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Oncology and community services. The post holder will also work collaboratively with other directorates in the trust to ensure the care of 16–17year olds is delivered in line with CYP national guidance. We are building a new hospital to replace the current Frimley Park Hospital which is affected by RAAC and there is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the designing and shaping of services in line with our clinical strategy.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for nursing services within the Children’s and Young People’s Directorate.
  • Ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety are maintained.
  • Lead and manage a team of nursing professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement innovative care models.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Engage with patients, families, and the community to enhance the patient experience.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Paediatric Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
  • Significant experience in a senior nursing leadership role, preferably within a children’s healthcare setting.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care and improving clinical outcomes.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Commitment to professional development and lifelong learning.
