Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for delivering high quality, patient centred, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.
- Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values.
- Be an accountable professional.
- Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.
- Carry out specific clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction of a registered nurse or other registered care professional’s dependent on setting.
- Have the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individual’s defined plan of care, within the parameters of practice of the Nursing
- Associate role, accessing clinical and care advice when needed.
The post holder will demonstrate a level of underpinning knowledge to practice and educated to foundation degree level. - The post holder will support the registered nurses, medical staff, and allied health professionals within the clinical environment.
- The role is flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the care setting, and it is expected that the responsibilities will be developed and be agreed as services evolve.

- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
- Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of involvement in support / development of less experienced staff.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
- Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
- Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non-verbal communication) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Experience of Paediatrics
- GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- Level 3 Health related qualification.
