Job overview

Surrey and Borders is seeking an experienced Locum Band 7 Specialist Neurodevelopmental Practitioner with ADOS expertise to join our Child and Young People’s Neurodevelopmental Service.

The postholder will play a key role in delivering high-quality ASD and ADHD diagnostic assessments, including dual ASD/ADHD assessments, working as part of a multidisciplinary team within a community CAMHS setting. This is a clinically focused role requiring strong assessment, formulation, and report-writing skills.

Working pattern: Community-based service.

Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

Main Address: Theta Building Lyon Way, Frimley, Surrey, GU16 7ER and in Azalea House, Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford, Surrey GU2 7LX. 

Please note: The Role may require for you to travel to other SABP hubs to complete Dual and ADOS 2 assessments

Main duties of the job

  • o complete ADOS assessments as part of multi-disciplinary ASD diagnostic pathways.

  • To undertake dual ASD and ADHD diagnostic assessments in line with national and local guidance.

  • To gather, analyse and integrate complex assessment information in order to produce high-quality diagnostic and post-diagnostic reports.

  • To contribute to the triage and management of referrals into the Neurodevelopmental Service.

  • To work collaboratively with medical, psychology and wider MDT colleagues during assessment and formulation.

  • To provide clinical supervision to an Assistant Psychologist undertaking developmental history assessments and drafting reports.

  • To maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely clinical records in accordance with Trust policy, professional standards and clinical governance requirements.

  • To attend and actively contribute to MDT meetings.

  • To contribute to service delivery, pathway development and continuous service improvement within the Neurodevelopmental Service.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration as a Clinical Practitioner (e.g. Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker, SALT)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in a CYP Neurodevelopmental Service
  • Experience completing ADOS assessments
  • Experience undertaking or contributing to ASD and ADHD diagnostic assessments, including complex presentations
  • Experience working with children, young people, and families in outpatient or community CAMHS settings
Desirable criteria
  • Experience supervising junior staff or Assistant Psychologists
  • Experience working within an ITHRIVE-informed service model
