The busy Benign Gynaecology Outpatients department is seeking an enthusiastic highly motivated nurse with excellent communication skills to work within the Gynaecology clinic as part of a multi disciplinary team.
The successful candidate must show the ability to undertake the role of junior Sister. The role involves the management of quality, clinical care, and advocate for the patient experience, effective management of resources and appropriate deployment of nursing staff. You will be expected to have the flexibility to work within all areas of the department.
The successful candidate must be committed to improving the patient experience and ensuring the high standards we expect for our patients are met. The candidate must be able to demonstrate experience as a gynaecological nurse and a willingness to lead change.

Main duties of the job
To support women in their journey through gynaecology outpatients service, including colposcopy, hysteroscopy, two week referral service and gynaecology clinics. You will work as part of the multi-professional team providing a high standard of care to women and their families within the integrated gynaecology service.
Be responsible for supporting the consultant and junior doctor’s clinics, be an advocate for patients, utilise your experience and knowledge referring to consultant gynaecologist/senior nurse as appropriate and provide on-going care in emergency situations as outlined by protocol until additional support arrives. Support complex emotions of women undergoing gynaecology treatment and the gynaecology outpatients department.
Provide clinical expertise, knowledge and support to junior team members, and students. Take charge of the department daily routine and deputise for the Senior Sister in her absence. Ensure audits, daily staffing and staffing allocation is completed, appraisals and off duty are completed in a timely manner.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for the safe and efficient flow of patients through the gynaecology outpatients department. Ensuring the care and safety of women undergoing diagnostic and treatment procedures alongside the junior doctors and consultants, arranging pre assessment and enhanced recovery services for women booked for further surgery. Liaising with other members of the MDT, other department teams, specialist nurses and secretaries to support the patient pathways, including clinic preparation. The post holder is expected to support other members of the team including nursing staff, health care assistants and students. The post holder will follow the escalation of emergencies and have skills in how to manage these situations. The post holder will have experience of working in gynaecology care settings and the key principles of delivering care in this setting.

- Experience of organising own workload and leading where appropriate
- Experience of managing difficult conversations and delivering bad news and following this up with patient support

- Diploma level or above nursing qualification
