Job overview
We are excited to announce our Paediatric Emergency Department (PED), is looking for a Paediatric Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly, supportive and motivated team of Paediatric Nurses and Paediatric Practitioners. The Paediatric Emergency Service is staffed as a specialist area within the Emergency Department, it works closely alongside the Adult emergency service and is collaboratively linked with our Paediatric inpatient services.
As a band 6, you will be expected to lead a team of band 5 nurses and nursing assistants in the day to day running of the department, leading the shift and setting an example of good practice.
Building links with the other paediatric departments and wider MDT teams, once you have been in the department for 6 months, you will also be expected to take on management roles with a dedicated team to manage with the support of the Unit manager. This will mean completing sickness reviews, annual reviews and support.
The Department offers a structured Educational Program, supported by the Practice Development Nurses and a dynamic team of Clinical Practitioners who will support you in developing your knowledge and skills. Along with hospital based educational opportunities, the Hospital is affiliated with Brighton University and University of Surrey.
