We are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our well-established and friendly team on Ward 6 at Wexham Park Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a medical ward environment that specializes in rheumatology, while also contributing to the wider Medical Directorate, which includes specialities such as stroke, elderly care, gastroenterology, haematology, endocrinology, cardiology, and respiratory care.
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will:
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of nurses, healthcare assistants, and care assistants.
Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality nursing care.
Play a key role in delivering safe and effective patient care and supporting the recovery journey of individuals with a range of medical conditions.

These fixed-term contracts (one for 12 months, one for 5 months) are ideal for nurses looking to gain experience in a dynamic medical setting with a strong emphasis on patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
· To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care with minimal supervision.
· To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care.
· To carry out all administrative and nursing duties as delegated by the team leader and senior sister.

· To demonstrate a sound knowledge of infection control standards and promote these within the ward environment
· To refer to other disciplines utilising the Trusts electronic systems ie “patient centre” and “real time”.
· To assist in promotion of health.
· To act in accordance with policies and nursing procedures as per Trust policy.
· To co-ordinate the team/ward in absence of the team leader or senior sister.
· To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing

- Previous acute hospital experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience in caring for elderly patients who have dementia
- Previous experience managing patients with chronic medical conditions

- Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations
- Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
- Able to train and supervise junior staff
