Job overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Staff Nurses to join our dynamic Cardiology team at Wexham Park Hospital.
Ward 4, our 20-bed Acute Cardiology Stepdown Unit, is an integral part of our forward-thinking Cardiac Unit. The ward maintains strong links with our 10-bed Coronary Care Unit and two state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheter Laboratories. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive experience in cardiology nursing, supporting patients across the full spectrum of acute cardiac care.

Main duties of the job
To work as part of a team of Nurses, Health care assistants and Care assistants and be responsible for the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe and high quality nursing care.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care ensuring trust policies and guidelines are adhered to.
- To co-ordinate the team in absence of the team leader.
- To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing documentation, in accordance with clinical governance.
- To be aware of the complaints procedure and incident reporting and be able to apply it as needed.
- To escalate as appropriate any untoward incidents, complaints and ward/staff issues.
- To participate in on-going clinical supervision and audits.
- To maintain own personal portfolio/profile and to take responsibility for annual updates on current legislative/hospital issues.
- To ensure all training undertaken is evaluated to determine its effectiveness in practice and to ensure all objectives have been met.
- To assist in teaching programmes for student nurses/new staff and newly qualified nurses and contribute towards a positive learning environment.
- To promote good working relationships, within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide specialist advice in Cardiac procedures and support in the promotion of health.
- To use all resources efficiently and effectively maintaining an awareness of budgetary implications.
