We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join the expanding Cardiology Services at Wexham Park Hospital.
This role has a key focus on the Diuretic Lounge, an innovative outpatient service managed by the Heart Failure Team, providing specialist care to patients with heart failure. You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality outpatient care, while also supporting the cardiology ward when required, ensuring continuity and excellence in patient care.
As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills, working closely with the Ward Manager to maintain high standards of clinical care and patient safety. You will support the development of staff through education and training in collaboration with the Practice Development Sister and play an active role in promoting cardiology nursing within the organisation.
Applicants must have experience in caring for cardiac patients within an acute setting and demonstrate up-to-date clinical knowledge, evidence of recent professional development, and a commitment to evidence-based practice.

Main duties of the job
Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe patient care in line with Trust policies, guidelines, and evidence-based practice, maintaining awareness of current developments and updates.
Support the Unit Manager in the effective management of the ward, including understanding budgets, contracts, service delivery, and ensuring staff awareness of relevant financial responsibilities.
Manage staffing arrangements, including shift rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix in accordance with ward and Trust policies.
Deputise for the Unit Manager as required, representing the ward at meetings and committees, and supporting the management of core services, ward issues, and resource optimisation.
Promote a positive and supportive working environment, ensuring effective teamwork, staff wellbeing, and an environment conducive to learning for both registered and unregistered staff.
Lead on staff development and governance activities, including appraisals, training needs identification, recruitment and selection, staff induction and preceptorship, participation in clinical audit, and appropriate management of complaints to improve service quality.
