Job overview

Acting as an autonomous practitioner, you will lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of specialist treatment plans for patients within a defined clinical group across the disease spectrum. This role demands advanced clinical expertise, combining extensive theoretical knowledge with practical experience to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. You will also serve as a role model, promoting clinical excellence and supporting colleagues in the delivery of expert care.

In addition, you will be responsible for designing and delivering specialist education programmes to a broad range of healthcare professionals—including medical, nursing, and Allied Health staff—enhancing knowledge and clinical practice across the multidisciplinary team.

You will take a leading role in research and audit activities related to your specialty, both within Frimley Health and in collaboration with external partners, contributing to evidence-based practice and continuous service improvement.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract role.

Main duties of the job

To be a skilled practitioner providing expert clinical care using an extensive theoretical knowledge base and practical experience to underpin the role, while acting as a role model for the delivery of expert care. 

To deliver specialist educational programmes to a range of healthcare professionals in relation to infectious diseases, including medical, nursing and Allied Health Professional staff.

To lead research and audit within infectious diseases internally and externally within Frimley Health.

The successful post holder will be expected to work mainly at Wexham site and as needed to other sites within Frimley Health. The role is varied and offers the unique opportunity to work with some of our most underserved communities including those battling addiction, seeking refuge from war/ natural disaster and prejudice. The role requires a close working relationship with public health services and supporting national targets on BBV testing and improving population health.

  • First level nurse registration or equivalent for Pharmacy graduate
  • Evidence of professional and personal development
  • Teaching and assessing qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Managerial qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in relevant specialty
  • Significant post registration experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in managing own caseload in relevant specialty
  • Experience of Audit Competence in IT and use of database and spreadsheets

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate ability to influence within and outside of service, across multi/inter disciplinary groups
  • Evidence of specific knowledge and skills in Hepatology specialty
  • Knowledge/interpretation of Liver blood tests, imaging and pathology
  • Familiarity with National Strategic developments in liver diseases and knowledge of relevant guidelines e.g., issued by the British Society of Gastroenterology and the British Association for the study of Liver disease
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of how to apply research to clinical practice
