Family Integrated Care Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, innovative, and forward-thinking nurse or midwife with previous Band 6 experience in a clinical neonatal setting to join our team as the Family Integrated Care (FiCare) Lead for our Local Neonatal Unit (LNU).
The postholder will play a pivotal role in embedding and advancing the Family Integrated Care philosophy throughout the neonatal service, ensuring that families are fully supported and actively involved in the care of their babies. Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, the FiCare Lead will promote a culture of partnership between healthcare professionals and families, enhancing both the family experience and clinical outcomes within the Local Neonatal Unit.
The successful candidate will work closely with Allied Health Professional (AHP) teams, nursing and medical education teams, clinical psychology services, chaplaincy teams, and infant feeding specialists to develop, deliver, and evaluate FiCare education and training programmes. They will champion best practice, support service development initiatives, and act as a key resource for staff and families across the neonatal service.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong leadership, communication, and teaching skills who is passionate about improving neonatal care through meaningful family involvement and collaborative working.

- The postholder will fulfil a key role within the unit and will ensure that Family Integrated Care ethos is embedded within the service.
- They will play a key role in optimising the clinical environment using a Family Integrated Care (FiCare) framework such as BAPM Framework for Practice, providing resources for staff, parents, and their families.
- They will collaborate with Allied health professions (AHP) teams, nurse education teams, clinical psychology leads, bereavement/chaplaincy teams and infant feeding liaison on Ficare education, teaching, and training.
- The post holder will show leadership in the management of consistency of practice, high standards of care, innovative practice with a focus on family care, patient safety and as a subject matter expert for staff and parents throughout the family journey.
- To ensure that nursing practice is contemporary a regular clinical shift should be undertaken to keep up to date with current research and evidence-based practice and an ongoing awareness of the parent journey.
- To collaborate and work in partnership to promote, support and assess a Ficare culture across all aspects of neonatal care.

- NMC Registration with experience in the care of babies, children and young people or Midwifery
- Neonatal qualification in speciality
- Significant experience at working at Band 6 within a neonatal unit
