Adult Safeguarding Specialist Nurse

Band 6

Job overview

Join our Safeguarding Adults Team and make a difference to some of the most vulnerable adults in our communities.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated registered nurse to join our Trust-wide Safeguarding Adults Team as a Band 6 Safeguarding Adults Practitioner. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that adults at risk are appropriately identified, protected and supported through effective safeguarding processes.

The role also includes delivering safeguarding training across Trust sites, undertaking audits and quality improvement activities, supporting learning from safeguarding reviews, and promoting best practice in safeguarding adults. The successful applicant will be an experienced NMC-registered nurse with strong assessment, communication and decision-making skills, strong leadership and management skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about safeguarding, enjoys working autonomously and collaboratively, and wishes to contribute to the ongoing development of safeguarding practice across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Work as a specialist practitioner within the Adult Safeguarding Team, supporting the Trust to meet its responsibilities under relevant legislation, statutory guidance, local multi-agency arrangements and Trust policies.
  • Provide specialist safeguarding advice, guidance and support to clinical teams and other professionals, promoting safe, person-centred and evidence-based practice.
  • Review safeguarding concerns and support Trust staff to identify risks, determine appropriate actions and use relevant safeguarding or alternative pathways.
  • Promote effective communication and information sharing between Trust services, primary and community care, Adult Social Care, police and other partner agencies.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate safeguarding education and training for Trust staff.
  • Participate in safeguarding audits, quality-assurance activity and service improvement.
  • Contribute to the development, review and implementation of safeguarding policies, procedures, guidance and educational resources.
  • Work across Trust sites and services in accordance with operational requirements.
