Senior Clinical Research Nurse

Job overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced dedicated Senior Clinical Research Nurse to join the Research and Innovation department at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will work with a vibrant team of research nurses and practitioners delivering a broad portfolio of research studies. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the assessment and management of the care pathways for patients and carers participating in clinical trials. This will include the recruitment, education and monitoring of trial patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

Previous research experience and supporting junior staff is essential.  Experience in any of the specialty areas such as cancer, urology specialty areas or midwifery would be of advantage.

The role is based at Wexham Park but will involve some cross site working to support delivery teams at other sites of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, including Heatherwood, King Edward VII

Main duties of the job

Identify new studies for R&I portfolio and be a key player in the feasibility process of new studies in the specialties assigned.

Contribute to the set up and management of studies.

Coordinates and conducts commercial and non-commercial studies in accordance with ICH-GCP and UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.

To ensure that the approved study protocols are followed at all times and conduct studies according to current legislation, ICH-GCP and local SOPs

Be accountable for the documentation of study data according to ICH GCP guidelines

Creates and maintains investigator site files.

Ensure the study participant is managed according to the schedule of events set out in the protocol.

Identify suitable participants for studies by attending clinics, screening notes and relevant multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Coordinate the study activities

Educate and support other members of staff, particularly new staff during their induction within the department.

Provides cover for other team members across FHFT, as required.

Participate in developing a shared version of the service and work with the multidisciplinary team, partner organisations and external agencies to achieve this.

Experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure using own initiative and prioritise workload
  • Commitment to meet the departmental objectives within the wider context of the NIHR
