The children’s safeguarding team is incredibly excited to advertise the post of Safeguarding Children Nurse Advisor.
We are looking for an experienced innovative nurse with safeguarding children experience to support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in the delivery of their statutory responsibilities to safeguard children within the Trust.
The post holder will support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust by ensuring core responsibilities and key objectives are effectively discharged. The post holder will be proactive in the promotion and development of partnership working between all agencies involved in the care and protection of children.

Main duties of the job
To support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children in the delivery of their statutory responsibilities for policy and practice regarding the legislative framework for safeguarding children. (Working together to Safeguard Children 2023 and Safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk in the NHS Safeguarding Accountability and Assurance Framework 2024).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

· * Key member of the Trust’s Safeguarding Children Team
· * Provide specialist advice and support staff covering a comprehensive range of complex issues regarding Safeguarding Children, supporting staff in both the acute and community settings.
· *To develop, implement and evaluate comprehensive training programmes for all staff groups from induction to specialist courses.
· *Support the development, implementation and review Safeguarding Children policies in the community.
· * Ensure good, effective and safe practice with regards to Safeguarding Children
· * Support and facilitate the development of clinical practice through supervision and education programmes.
· * Maintain the safeguarding children database
· * Develop and monitor standards and protocols
· * Work in partnership with other statutory, voluntary and healthcare agencies.
· * To provide specialist education and training to other staff, students and/or patients/clients and carers.
· * Work closely with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children on the Domestic Abuse and Think Family Agenda.

- • First level nursing qualification
- • Professional Qualification to degree level.
- • NMC registration
- • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
- • Qualification / evidence of study in leadership.
- • Recognised qualification in teaching / training i.e. ENB 998 / City & Guilds 730
- • Knowledge and awareness of models of health promotion
- • Effective report writing skills
- • Knowledge of adult/child safeguarding including Prevent

- • Working towards Master level education or equivalent experience
