Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Band 4 Clinical Support Assistant to join the Community Mental Health Team, in South Warwickshire & Coventry, working with a mixture of patients with psychotic and non-psychotic presentations.

We are one team that has several bases in South Warwickshire and one in Coventry. All clinical work is carried out in both bases and in patient’s own homes.

This role is varied and will incorporate the triage of patients accessing secondary care mental health services, delivery of Mental Health psycho education. 

Additional to the triage role where the post holder will have support and supervision from senior clinical colleagues, the post holder will have responsibility for a defined caseload of clients under indirect supervision.  They will provide treatment to service users using a range of evidence-based interventions.

Our teams place a huge emphasis on training and ongoing supervision both in a group setting and individual basis.

Applicants should be thorough, boundaried and confident practitioners with a good understanding of Mental Health presentations.  Above all, the essential qualities we are looking for are warmth, compassion, empathy and the ability to be relatable. Having access to and the use of a vehicle for attending appointments in the community is essential.

Main duties of the job

Community Mental health teams are a service arranged around individual needs. This post sits within the new Community Mental Health Teams Which includes working with a range of conditions. This includes people with Psychosis, emotion regulation difficulties, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD symptoms, and eating disorders which do not meet the threshold for the eating disorder service.  

The teams have invested in considerable staff training and development over the years to develop staff skills with working with the patient group. Working within an established team, you’ll be working alongside qualified staff to help triage patients accessing the service and to deliver psychological interventions to our patients. This will include psycho education including  anxiety management and some emotional regulation skills. You will be given full training on these. You will also support the qualified staff with conducting assessments and reviews completing the paperwork for these with the guidance and supervision of the qualified professional.  As a successful candidate you will have the opportunity to build your skills and confidence. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using evidence-based approaches and time limited interventions. You’ll be communicating with a wide variety of patients; professionals; partners and agencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

It is essential that candidates have experience of working within community mental health or with people with mental health needs. You must have either significant relevant experience and /  or a relevant qualification such as a psychology degree, assistant practitioner foundation degree  / mental health degree etc. Evidence of this must be presented.
