Clinical Nurse Specialist Cath Lab

Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cath Lab Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. Working as an expert clinical practitioner within our expanding department within the speciality of Cardiology and Neurointervention.
Working in partnership with stakeholders to ensure the Stroke Thrombectomy and Primary PCI services delivers evidence based care to our patients, and to work with the Clinical Educators to take an active role in staff training and development.
The post holder will also support the Clinical Service Manager, offering clinical leadership and assisting with some managerial tasks.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based in the Cath Lab and will have a requirement for on-call as part of the role.
The post holder will be an experienced scrub practitioner, and have experience of Cardiology and Neurointervention procedures. They will work across the sub-specialities of Cardiac Intervention, Structural Heart Valve, Devices, EP and Neurointervention.
The post holder will be actively involved in the training and development of staff, service development and improvement, clinical research, and clinical audit bench-marking against national guidelines to ensure evidence based practice.
In addition the post holder will support the Clinical Service Manager, offering clinical leadership, and assisting with managerial tasks as delegated.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Act in accordance with the NMC Code and be accountable for own practice and professional actions at all times.
- Contribute to the development of the roles of nurses, midwives, nursing associates in the best interests of patients and these professions in accordance with the NMC Code.
- Demonstrate clinical practice expertise through personal practice, lead by example and include face to face teaching, delivering education sessions and developing training plans.
- A knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Who will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/specialty.
- Responsible for identifying and assessing complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions and monitoring/auditing outcomes.
- Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring; equipment management and administration of invasive tests/procedures
- Responsible for education and development of staff and service in an identified area through appraisal and business planning cycles
- Regularly manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical need
- Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g imparting bad news or following an unexpected event
- Utilise and ensure others utilise information and IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce, and resource data available.
- Act as a clinical and professional role model for effective clinical leadership.
- Participate in the on-call rota
- Undertake informed consent for nurse led procedures, undertake nurse led procedures as per clinical competence and training.
