Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered Midwife to join the perinatal senior leadership team for a 12 month period to lead on perinatal workforce, antenatal clinic and antenatal screening.
The successful postholder will lead on recruitment and retention across the perinatal service providing upwards reporting of workforce data. The postholder will oversee the preceptorship programme for newly qualified midwives and the student support programme.
The postholder will have leadership responsibility and accountability for the antenatal clinic and antenatal screening departments with innovative service improvement.
As a credible senior leader with managerial responsibility for perinatal services you will work as a visible leader within the group management structure demonstrating collaborative working across the MDT. As a modern matron you will be responsible for delivering the goals as outlined in the Matrons Handbook.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To be a visible leader, ensuring a physical presence, providing professional nurse leadership and demonstrating, through personal behaviours, the core values of UHCW NHS Trust. Ensuring a professional appearance, maintaining professional standards, and leading by example.
- To visit and be present on wards and departments within areas of responsibility daily and to be accessible to staff via face to face or other forms of communication, ensuring time is provided to staff to discuss concerns, inequalities or clinical issues that may affect clinical effectiveness.
- To conduct planned gemba walks or rounding in their areas of responsibility in order to support their teams and improvement opportunities, potential issues and waste.
- To act as an expert resource, providing advice on nursing issues in relation to policies, protocols, service delivery and the adoption of the organisation’s aims.
- To demonstrate inclusive leadership, embedding local and national standards to ensure the delivery of safe care, working collaboratively with the wider MDT.
- To act as an influence on maintaining cleaning standards, maintaining environmental cleanliness, infection prevention and control compliance locally, ensuring that IPC is everyone’s responsibility.
