Job overview

We are building a new hospital in Bexhill to replace our inpatient services/ECT Department. This means that, if you are successful in your application, you will be asked to transfer to the new facilities when it opens

 

The temporary base until the new Hospital opens, will be Dept of Psychiatry, Eastbourne DGH, Kings Drive, Eastbourne, East Sussex BN21 2UD

 

The ECT Department are looking for a committed Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to work as part of the ECT Department.  You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to establish and deliver a program of care for patients within the Department; working with a dedicated team of professionals that provide the highest standards of care and support to people with acute mental health needs.

 

The Department is looking for a compassionate and person- centred experienced Healthcare support worker with an ability to work in a flexible manner to meet the demands and needs of the service.

 

The successful applicant would be expected to manage episodes of care, working as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, reporting patients' condition to qualified staff whilst providing a safe and welcoming environment for patients, carers and visitors.

 

 

Main duties of the job

This post will be based in the ECT Department.  You will be a vital part of our multi-disciplinary team undertaking monitoring, documentation and care of our patients receiving ECT treatment at the ECT Clinic.  


Successful candidates will have strong communication and people skills, a non-judgmental approach and above all a real caring attitude and be prepared to make a difference.


You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to establish and deliver personal care to patients in the ECT Department providing factual information to patients, offering reassurance, tact and empathy

This post will be in the ECT Department which works on a Tuesday and Friday from 07.30 - 15.30.  There may be occasions when sessions may exceed regular hours  Applicants have the options to sign up for a corresponding bank position to facilitate extra hours worked.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You must be able to deliver a high standard nursing care using excellent communication and relationship skills supporting patients with mental health needs.

You will support the ECT Lead Nurse in the clinical management of the patients nursing care.  You will be actively engaging, observing, reporting and recording changes in the patients physical, mental health and behaviour.

You will undertake a range of routine job procedures that will require some training but knowledge of personal and social care is required.  You must have NVQ 2 training or equivalent experience

  • Experience of working with mental health needs in a paid or voluntary capacity
