Job overview

Within the Brighton and Hove Wellbeing Service, an exciting position has arisen for a Band 7 Triage Co-ordinator to join our leadership team for fixed term or secondment period of 12 months from August 2026 

You will be responsible for the  triage pathway of the Adult Talking Therapies Service and the Primary Care & Partnerships TeamYou will work alongside clinicians and administrative colleagues in the service and will demonstrate excellent communication skills, understanding and kindness to colleagues and to people who will, very often be having their first contact with our services. 

The Triage Co-Ordinator works closely with partners across the healthcare system and will be an active participant in ongoing community transformationredesigning the way people can access mental health support across the city. As such, the ability and motivation to build and maintain strong reciprocal relationships is essential.  

Please note, although we encourage positive work-life balance, we are not able to offer remote-working-only contracts for this role.  

Part time (minimum 30 hours) and flexible working patterns will be considered, however due to the demands of the role it is essential for the successful applicant to be able to work in some capacity across at least 4 days (Mon-Fri)

Main duties of the job

You should have recent experience of working in or alongside a Talking Therapies ServiceYou will show the ability to prioritise your work independently and allocate/oversee workloads of triage clinicians as necessaryThe role will require you have professional experience of, or a skillset in operational and performance measuring skills, e.g. auditing, forecasting, and regular complex use of the Microsoft Office Suite amongst other software programmes.  

You contribute to effective multi-disciplinary working within the community mental health system and build up effective liaison with community, primary, and other secondary and tertiary services/agencies within the locality to provide holistic care based on the individual's need and service development.

  • Registered Health and / or Social Care qualification
  • Professional registration or equivalent
  • Post-basic courses / study days

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Significant post – qualification experience in community setting
  • Knowledge of Primary Care Mental Health including IAPT
  • Experience of working with people with serious / common mental health problems
  • Experience of providing supervision / mentoring / clinical training / leadership
  • Understanding of health and social care governance
  • Previous experience in a similar role (referral management)
