Community Support Worker

NHS AfC: Band 3

We are seeking to appoint an experienced support worker who is able to provide cover for the out of hours crisis line provided for Brighton and Hove as part of the Mental Health Rapid Response Service (MHRRS). The out of hours support worker is co-located with the Haven crisis assessment unit which is based at the Mill View hospital site. The out of hours support worker will be expected to respond to calls made to the MHRRS crisis line, record the details of the calls, provide advice where necessary, signpost to appropriate services and consider where a referral to the Haven or A&E may be required and to seek input and support from qualified nursing staff. The MHRRS support workers will also have access to the daytime rapid access clinic diary and can offer appointments for callers who are able to attend the following day.

It would also be expected that the support workers will work alongside the qualified nursing staff in the Haven and this may involve face to face contact with people who are attending the Haven for a crisis assessment.

If you have experience of working in mental health services and you are an empathetic, calm and compassionate person who is able to work effectively as part of a team we would welcome your application. All applicants will need to be able to demonstrate basic IT skills including use of Excel.
