Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Neurodevelopmental Practitioner to join our neurodevelopmental service. The post holder will be experienced in the assessment of autism and ADHD for young people. 

You would join a committed and skilled multidisciplinary team of professionals providing assessments to young people referred for neurodevelopmental assessments.  

Main duties of the job

To provide assessments for ADHD and Autism using the ADOS method of assessment. 

To be able to take a detailed developmental history and be up to date in the risk assessment process. 

To be proficient in diagnostic assessment report writing and able to work as part of the larger multidisciplinary team in making diagnostic decisions following assessment. 

To be able to record and keep relevant and detailed clinical notes. 

Working for our organisation

The neurodevelopmental team is a part of the CAMHS service in Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation trust. There is a commitment to providing supervision and options where relevant to enhance training including via apprenticeship. 

The team regularly has students and has a commitment to providing supportive and educational experiences to students placed in the team. 

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The applicant will be familiar with NICE guidance and relevant research in relation to neurodevelopmental assessments. 

The use of the ADOS assessment is used in the assessment of Autism and the ability to complete assessment reports is expected. 

The QB test is used as part of the ADHD assessment process and both assessments require the ability to take a detailed developmental history. 

Care and treatment planning is expected for every young person being assessed. It is also expected that full risk assessments will be completed. 

Patient outcome measures are used to ensure that we continue to provide high quality care to all young people in the service. 

The ability to complete and maintain accurate and detailed records alongside the ability to both work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team and to use own initiative. 

You will contribute to team development and be able to provide supervision to others in the team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD/ Adult) appropriate to the job role
  • Degree/diploma level supplemented by specialist qualification, training, experience, courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
  • Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area
  • Completion of Mentorship Course/ENB equivalent
  • Supplementary/Independent Non Medical Prescribing Module (level 3) or willingness to train in (through trust support and sponsorship)

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post qualifying experience in relevant service area
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Able to manage a caseload of patients with complex mental health needs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area
  • Awareness of Trust policies and service specification
