Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for an Infection Prevention Nurse Specialist to join our Infection Prevention Team at Airedale General Hospital. This role offers the chance to build on your expertise, influence best practice across clinical services, and develop your career in a specialist area that is both rewarding and fast paced. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust, you will support the delivery of safe, high-quality care by helping to prevent and reduce healthcare-associated infections and by promoting evidence-based infection prevention standards.
You will be able to demonstrate expert knowledge in all aspects of infection prevention and control management and hold a recognised infection prevention and control qualification. You will be confident providing specialist advice and guidance, interpreting national guidance and local policy, and supporting teams to translate this into practical improvements in day-to-day care. Excellent communication skills are essential, together with the ability to engage, influence and motivate others at all levels. You should have appropriate clinical and managerial experience, be confident using IT systems, and be well organised, with the ability to manage competing priorities. You must be able to work autonomously and also as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist expert advice concerning the care and treatment of patients and identified groups e.g. patients with complex medical nursing needs.
Build positive relationships with all health care providers both within the Trust and community care, including GPs, community nurses and other external contractors.
Share information, skills and experiences with colleagues and team members.
Maintain a positive working environment and culture which actively improves the performance and development of the team.
Show willingness to listen to others and actively promote the use of collaborative working, displaying sensitivity to the needs of others.
Act as role model by demonstrating positive leadership behaviours and attitudes around infection prevention.
Provide regular reports on infection prevention and control to the health community and to
keep accurate documentation of advice and information given to health care staff and patients/carers/public.
Act as a resource for infection prevention and control advice and information for all staff
including control of infection aspects of Health and Safety at Work Act, Controls of Substance Hazardous to Health and Environmental Protection.
