Job overview
Spectrum CIC are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Bank Health Care Support Worker to work within their Integrated Sexual Health Team. The successful candidate should have previous experience in working within a sexual health setting.
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within the team, this will include evenings and may include some weekend work.
Main duties of the job
The role will include chaperoning, obtaining samples, microscopy, stock control and assisting clinicians in the provision of contraception and the management of sexually transmitted infections. In addition, the post holder will support administration services when required. The post holder will be able to demonstrate Spectrum’s values and behaviours.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in care or equivalent in a health related course
- GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- CDL/Elite
- Typing RSA 1
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding confidentiality
- Understanding of basic Sexual health issues
Desirable criteria
- In depth knowledge of the range of contraception and sexually transmitted infections
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to communicate empathetically when dealing with personal and sensitive issues
- Able to be flexible to meet the needs of the service
- Ability to work as part of a team Organised approach to work, professional behaviour and good interpersonal skills
Desirable criteria
- Typing skills
- Condom demonstration skills
- Chlamydia Screening
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in a health care setting dealing with confidential and sensitive matters
- Confident and able to communicate with a range of people
- Can demonstrate they are able to work in an organised and methodical way, multitasking as necessary
- Computer literate, and confident in using a range of Microsoft Office programmes and electronic patient records/effective typist
- Previous experience communicating with the general public face to face or via telephone
