Ward Sister/Charge Nurse Odstock Ward

Band 6

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used, then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Job overview

Odstock ward is a regional burns and plastics department, and part of a national network providing specialist nursing care.

The right candidate will bring up-to-date burns and plastics expertise, help with referrals, work closely with the trauma coordination team to triage, signpost, and potentially admit patients straight to the ward, and deliver top-quality care in the inpatient setting while supporting the team.

We actively encourage personal growth with in-house training, apprenticeships, and university courses.

You’ll be working with a highly skilled and passionate multidisciplinary team—therapists, surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, and the safeguarding team—to rehabilitate, reconstruct, and support patients throughout their journey.

Main duties of the job

As a registered, accountable, and autonomous nurse, the post holder will deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients within the Burns Service, ensuring effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. The post holder will act in accordance with the NMC Code, Trust values, and professional standards, providing clinical leadership, supporting staff development, and contributing to the safe and efficient management of the ward.
