Job overview

This is an exciting new post in Endoscopy. We are looking to recruit a Clinical Practice Educator  to provide expertise and education for the Endoscopy team by using a structured approach to training and assessment. You will provide high level specialist clinical knowledge, skill and understanding of clinical practice within Endoscopy.

Main duties of the job

  • To liaise with Senior Professionals and related functions to ensure that work is neither duplicated nor overlooked.
  •  Foster and maintain relationships and sustain effective communication across all professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Enable staff to work in a consistent manner maintaining high standards, utilising audits and feeding back to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Identify different learning needs of team members and liaise with the Matron/Senior Sister, Charge Nurse.
  •  Works closely with Senior Divisional and Consultant Medical staff contributing to the development, review and evaluation of speciality related training in order to inform service development and educational commissioning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  •           Provide reports as required for the units compliance with JETS workforce, competency completion and highlight any upcoming or potential gaps.
  • To lead and deliver on the implementation of Endoscopic Non-Technical Skills training (ENTS) for the multidisciplinary team within Endoscopy.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of written documentation requirements and action any recommendations of record keeping audits.
  •  Challenges practice and supports the Team Leaders to find solutions to problems using practical, personal and theoretical knowledge of facilitation and negotiation.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • Registered Health Care Professional
  • Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Possession of, or willingness to achieve once appointed, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of study at master’s level
  • Proven leadership qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate substantial post registration Endoscopy experience including pre-assessment, patient care, recovery, assistant in therapeutics, knowledge of decontamination.
  • Evidence of clinical and professional expertise underpinned by specialist knowledge acquired through CPD
  • Ability to apply audit and evidence-based nursing practice and experience of leading innovation and change.
