Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Band 6 Junior Sister to join Bonney Diabetes and Endocrine Ward at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Registered Nurse with an interest in Diabetes & Endocrine, Hematology & Oncology and who are passionate about delivering high standards of care.
The post holder will support the Senior Sister with the leadership and management of the provision of care within the ward providing a visible leadership presence. You will be responsible for ensuring that high standards of clinical evidence based care are continuously achieved and monitored, ensuring a positive learning environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent clinical skills in relation to all aspects of care, combined with a caring attitude and good interpersonal and communication skills with patients and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will have opportunities to enhance their clinical skills and develop their management and leadership experience. You will be supported by a dynamic experienced team and a Practice Development Nurse.
You will need to be flexible and dynamic in your approach in delivering care to patients. The post holder needs to have good communication skills and be an effective team player.
Main duties of the job
Takes responsibility for a ward or equivalent sphere of nursing, in the absence of the person who has continuing (24 hour) responsibility at Band 7.
Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluating programmes of care. Responsible for managing a group of staff in the absence of the Ward Sister.
You will be supported by the Ward Manager, Practice Development Nurse and Matron to undertake professional and personal development opportunities, and be supported to undertake postgraduate academic courses.
The ward offers different learning opportunities as well as a chance to develop management and leadership skills.
The post holders will be expected to deliver care of the highest standard and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. As a Clinical Sister / Charge Nurse you will ensure that you carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high qualities, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
