Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Discharge Lounge at the Rehabilitation Unit, Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

The Discharge Lounge is a dedicated area for patients who are leaving the hospital (fit for discharge) but are waiting for transport, medicines to take home, or packages of care which start later in the day.

The Discharge Lounge is open from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm every day. It provides a safe and comfortable environment for you to wait in, while receiving any ongoing care you need.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to deliver the highest standards of care in a demanding environment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care with minimal supervision.

Maintaining high standards of patient care and carrying out all administrative and nursing duties as delegated.

Organizing and deploying staff according to their competence to meet patients' needs.

Demonstrating knowledge of infection control standards and promoting these within the ward environment.

Collaborating with the Discharge Team, Site Managers, and ward colleagues to ensure seamless, patient-centered discharges.

This role requires strong communication skills, excellent clinical judgment, and a commitment to delivering high quality care at the final stage of a patient's journey. The position is also part of a flexible work environment, with opportunities for career development and a focus on a healthy work-life balance.
