Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist team. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic registered nurse, with at least 4 years relevant experience to join the Christie @ Tameside Haematology Service. The post holder will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families and will co-ordinate patient care and act as a `key worker` for a nurse led patient service. As the haematology CNS service develops flexible working within the wider haematology service may be required. The post holder will be working in conjunction with the Lead Haematology CNS /Clinical Operation Manager 

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist nursing support in haematology clinics, and Holistic Needs Assessment 
Provide nurse led clinics, including bone marrow biopsy clinic.
Work with the haematology nursing team and be a `key worker` for patients and their families.
The management of complex treatment pathways.
Flexible working within the wider team.
Expert resource for patients, colleagues and co-ordinate care across the trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Provide evidence based individualized patient care according to patients changing healthcare needs, through electronic holistic needs assessment.

2) Participate in the clinical management of patients and formulate clinical management plans as per medical instruction and patient agreement.

3) Act as a `Keyworker` for a clinical case load and facilitate the co-ordination of patient care.

4) Support the haematology team to assess patient`s information needs and provide relevant information to meet those needs, ensuring the focus is on the promotion of health as well as illness.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • RGN Level 1
  • Diploma in Nursing Studies
  • 1st Level Degree
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Leadership / Management qualification
Desirable criteria
  • MSc in Advanced Nursing Practice
  • Advanced communication skills course
  • Haematology oncology degree/masters’ module
  • Non – medical prescribing qualification

EXPERIENCE
