Are you an experienced and passionate nurse ready to take the next step in your career? Our Heart Centre is seeking a dynamic Charge Nurse/Ward Sister to lead and inspire our dedicated team in delivering exceptional cardiac care.

About the Heart Centre

Our Heart Centre is a leading specialist unit providing advanced cardiac care to patients across the region. We deliver a full range of services, including in-hours Elective Primary PCI, Pacemaker insertions, Diagnostic Angiograms, PCI and Direct Current Cardioversion (DCCV).

We are proud of our reputation for clinical excellence and innovation, and our team works collaboratively to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care. Looking ahead, we have an exciting vision to establish a 24/7 Primary PCI Service, further enhancing our ability to deliver life-saving interventions around the clock.

Main duties of the job

As a Charge Nurse/Ward Sister, you will:

Provide clinical leadership and ensure high standards of patient care.

Manage day-to-day ward operations, staffing, and resources.

Support and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional development.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Is a registered nurse with current NMC registration.

Has proven leadership experience in an acute or cardiac setting.

Demonstrates excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

Is committed to patient safety and continuous improvement.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Registered Nurse with proven experience at Band 6.
  • • Uses evidence based practice to support care delivery
  • • Evidence of implementing significant changes or service developments that promote good practice
Desirable criteria
  • • Leadership course
  • • Experience of relevant specialities
  • • Experience of working in an acute Hospital setting

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • RGN / 1st Level registration
  • • Teaching / mentorship qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • • Evidence of continuing education
  • • Relevant degree or working towards
  • • Advanced Life Support provider / other course of similar calibre
