An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated midwife to join our team as the Ward Manager in Clayton Ward Maternity Unit.

Main duties of the job
- The Ward Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based women centred midwifery care while fostering a positive and supportive working environment.
- The role involves providing strong clinical leadership to the Clayton Ward team, overseeing the day to day running of the ward and coordinating care for private and amenity patients.
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary colleagues and Matrons, the post holder will ensure safe, effective care and positive patient experience.
- As an expert clinical midwife, they will also offer specialist advice and guidance to support the care of women, pregnant people and their families.

Education/ qualifications
Essential criteria
- Midwifery degree or equivalent
- Mentorship or full SSSA preparation
- Registered Midwife (on NMC register)
Desirable criteria
- Has attained or is working towards a management qualification.
- Leadership qualification or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject area or working towards this
- Examination of the new-born
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience >3years,
- Experience in a range of settings including labour ward.
- Parent education experience
- Previous mentorship experience
- Experience in change management
Desirable criteria
- Project management experience
- Patient experience initiatives

Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Proven experience in supervision of trained staff.
- Clinically competent.
