The Lancaster & Morecambe Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (CMHT OA) are looking to recruit a Band 5 Community Mental Health Nurse. This is a part-time position of 22.5 hours. The team is based at DeVitre House in Lancaster and covers the Lancaster & Morecambe district. The team operates between Monday – Friday, 09:00hrs – 17:00hrs.  
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic RMN who is driven to provide excellent mental health services to the local older adult population. The post-holder will demonstrate compassionate caring behaviours, have excellent communication skills, be reliable and work well within a team. You will be able to work calmly and efficiently whilst being adaptable to changing situations, remaining focused on providing a person-centred approach to care and treatment.

Main duties of the job

The core responsibilities of the post will be to oversee and monitor your own caseload. You will be expected to provide quality care and treatment programmes to patients over the age of 65 with a variety of complex mental health difficulties.  

You will work collaboratively with patients, carers and other professionals / agencies whilst working in patients’ homes or community environments. The role will involve working within a MDT to support patients in the community to remain at home and prevent hospital admission. In addition to core professional skills, the post holder will be expected to undertake a range of other generic clinical duties to support the team functions and be responsive to the needs of patients, their family and carers.

You will receive regular caseload Clinical Supervision and Line Management Supervision to support you in the role and for development. Supervising the practice of student nurses and unqualified staff will be an important aspect of the role.
