We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our Children’s Outpatients Clinic, supporting the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care in a fast-paced clinical environment.

The post holder will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, assisting nurses and clinicians in providing safe, compassionate care to infants, children, and young people attending a wide range of outpatient appointments. This role requires excellent communication skills, a calm and reassuring approach, and the ability to work effectively with children and families.

You will support clinical activity, help maintain a welcoming and safe environment, and contribute to the smooth running of busy clinics. The ideal candidate will be motivated, organised, and committed to delivering a positive experience for children and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the care of infants, children, and young people, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.

  • Supporting children and families during clinic visits by providing reassurance, clear communication, and age-appropriate interaction.

  • Undertaking and recording clinical observations such as height, weight, vital signs, and urinalysis in line with training and competency.

  • Preparing clinic rooms and equipment, ensuring areas are clean, well-stocked, and compliant with infection prevention and control standards.

  • Assisting nurses and clinicians with clinical procedures as required, within scope of practice.

  • Supporting the smooth running of clinics by helping manage patient flow, escorting patients, and prioritising tasks in a busy environment.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation on electronic patient record systems.

  • Following safeguarding policies and escalating any concerns about a child’s welfare to the appropriate professional.

  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals.

  • Adhering to Trust policies, professional standards, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.

  • Participating in training, supervision, and ongoing competency development.
