They would also be required to support the Difficult Asthma Clinic at Glangwili General Hospital.

The post holder will support practice nurses in a way that is appropriate for each individual practice. This may mean supporting development of the practice nurse or in some practices seeing the more complex patients in a designated clinic.

In secondary care they will support the severe asthma service.  This support will include seeing severe asthma patients in clinic under the supervision of the severe asthma lead. Managing patients on biologic medication including prescribing biologic medication for this group.

The post holder will also attend the all Wales asthma MDT presenting patients if necessary and will initiate biologic therapy on those patients who are deemed appropriate. Patients will also be discontinued if they do not meet NICE criteria.

Patients who are identified in primary care who are deemed as potential biologic candidates will be discussed with the severe asthma lead and investigations initiated prior to review in clinic.

Across the interface they will support innovations in respiratory research.
