Job overview
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Emergency Department Unit Manager to join our team following a major refurbishment of our Emergency Department. This significant investment has created a modern, purpose-built environment that promotes staff wellbeing and enhances the patient experience. The redevelopment includes a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department, staffed by skilled paediatric nurses to ensure safe, tailored, and compassionate care for children and families.
As Unit Manager, you will be the senior nurse accountable for the leadership, management, and ongoing development of the Emergency Department. You will work closely with a supportive senior nursing team and a Training & Development Facilitator to foster a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
We are seeking a confident, visible leader with extensive emergency care experience, strong operational management skills, and a track record of driving service improvement. You will be a clinical expert with a deep understanding of emergency care pathways and a passion for delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care. Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to inspire and support a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

As the Emergency Department Unit Manager, you will lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, and evidence-based care across the department. A key focus of the role will be driving continuous improvement in clinical quality, patient safety, and staff wellbeing. You will oversee daily operations to ensure effective patient flow and timely, person-centred care while maintaining compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will monitor and enhance standards of practice, identify areas for improvement, and implement actions to reduce risk and promote a culture of safety and accountability. Your leadership will be central to fostering excellence, learning, and continuous development within the Emergency Department.

- NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Registration
- Nursing Degree or equivalent experience
- Evidence of post qualification education (e.g. Mentorship or equivalent)

- Further leadership /management related qualification or training
