Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of the Theatres team providing high quality and safe care to patients.  Theatres currently have  permanent  vacancies up to and including full time hours within their team for Band 2 Theatre Support Workers.  We are seeking self-motivated individuals with experience in an acute hospital setting.

The Theatre complex at Dorset County Hospital includes: Main Theatres (8 Theatres); Day Surgery Unit (2 Theatres); Weymouth Community Hospital (1 Theatre) as well as the Procedure Suite at South Walks House.  This role will work predominately in Main Theatres but will be expected to work across all sites depending on the needs of the service.

Successful applicants should have good communication skills and enjoy working in a swiftly changing and challenging environment. You will be required to work as part of a motivated team as well as being able to work on own initiative. You must be able to work shifts which includes nights, weekends and on calls to cover the service need seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Once all competencies have been completed, the successful applicants will be uplifted to Band 3.

Main duties of the job

The job entails working within all areas of theatres, adults and paediatrics and some administration duties when necessary. The post holders will be expected to provide quality care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. Applications from candidates with previous experience in theatres would be encouraged.

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in English and maths

EXPERIENCE
