Job overview

A great opportunity has arisen to join the Home Therapies Peritoneal Dialysis team based at Dorchester but working across the east & west of the County in the satellite units & within the community.

The role involves working with a progressive, welcoming, supportive team to deliver a high standard of care to patients supporting them in the training & maintenance of their treatment at home.

The right candidate will be able demonstrate they have a professional demeanour and a passion for delivering efficient, compassionate, individualised and holistic care to patients.

A minimum of 1 year experience at Band 3 in NHS primary or secondary care with venepuncture and cannulation competencies is essential, while dialysis experience is desirable but not necessary as full training will be given.

NVQ in care, health and social studies qualification or equivalent would be an advantage.

A clean driving licence is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • The role involves supporting & working with the Renal specialist nurses in training & managing  the care of peritoneal dialysis patients at home with a view to keeping them safe & well & avoiding hospital admission.
  • The role requires regular blood taking, monitoring of results, dialysis & peritoneal adequacy tests which you would learn to carry out.
  • You would be required to make frequent home visits & visits to other satellite units to help with clinics & patients training.
  • You will be required to feedback & escalate to the RNs any concerns as a result of your time spent with a patients.

  • Educated to Secondary School Level

Experience
