Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic midwife with a passion and experience to join the team as Maternity Services Shift Leader ( Band 7) cross-site.
The successful applicant will be Bleep Holder, alongside the Labour Wad Coordinator, responsible for the running of maternity services including intrapartum services and Triage, with oversight of all areas of the maternity unit at all times.
Main duties of the job
- Be the Labour Ward Coordinator, working alongside the bleep holder, responsible for ensuring safe and effective clinical care provision at all times.
- Ensure a sensitive, systematic approach to the management, coordination and governance of core maternity services.
- Ensure equity for the population and, as part of the maternity services display innovative project management skills in developing new services and supporting the Continuity of Carer midwifery model.
- Establish and maintain a level of service which is equitable, evidence based and consistent with the recommendations of national guidance.
- Provide leadership and expert advice on clinical practice related to maternity care, working in collaboration with women, their families and the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical, audit and monitoring and training and development issues relevant to local and national outcomes and initiatives.

Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Degree / Diploma in Midwifery and evidence of Continued Professional Development
- SSSA Practice Assessor/ Mentorship qualification
- NIPE qualification
Desirable criteria
- PSIRF trained
- Managerial Training Courses
- Prompt Trainer/NLS trainer
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical experience as a band 6 midwife
- Experience of implementing change in service provision
- Experience of managing employee relations issues
- Experience of guideline development and review
- Experience of participation in clinical audit
- Knowledge and experience of risk management including experience in incident investigations
Desirable criteria
- Completion of the Labour Ward Coordinator Package
- Experience at Bleep Holding
