We would like to invite you to join our highly motivated midwifery team where commitment to providing high quality, woman-centred care is our passion. We are looking for a passionate, motivated, highly skilled Midwives to take on the challenge of coordinating a busy labour ward and working alongside a well-established team of coordinator, midwives and medical staff. Our band 7 posts offer excellent all round experience in a progressive environment for experienced midwives with the potential for individuals to develop a full range of leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
We have Level 2 Baby Friendly accreditation, CQC rating of ‘good’ and provide professional development opportunities for all levels of staff and work with the recommendations from the Better Births report and developing our Continuity of Carer team. As a Trust we are working towards a new EPR system which will streamline the use of data and technology to improve patient care and a confirmed site of redevelopment with a completely new hospital being pledged by 2025
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the shift management and clinical leadership of the midwifery services within the Delivery Suite (DS). They will be expected to ensure high standards of maternity care through effective management of staff by leading the team, organising others in their actions and setting priorities.

Our Maternity unit provides three options for place of birth; the established co-located Alexandra Birth Centre, home birth and the Delivery Suite. This ensures that all women have access to the optimal birth environment in accordance with their choice and in line with evidence based practice.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties will include the provision of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. The post holder will have 24 hour continuing responsibility for quality of care of their designated clinical area and ensure co-ordination between the maternity wards, labour ward, birth centre and fetal day assessment unit, including individual planning of care involving all relevant professionals and in consultation with the woman and her partner.
The postholder will provide clinical and professional advice at both unit and Divisional level.
The post holder will have 24 hour continuing responsibility for quality of care of their designated clinical area, and will provide clinical and professional advice at both unit and Divisional level.
The postholder will also act as Manager of the Day on a rotational basis with other colleagues ensuring safe staffing and safe standards of care within allocated resources.
