Job overview
Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurses and an Occupational Therapist to contribute to the development of mental health services. The post is suitable for registered Nurses and Occupational Therapists, with at least 2 years post qualification experience.
You will need to have demonstrated skills and expertise in carrying out a variety of assessments and be able to plan and execute interventions, with individuals, their carers and groups. You will need to be clinically confident and competent in working with individuals in a community setting and be able to work effectively in a multi-professional context. You should have collaborative and enthusiastic styles, as well as have a passion and commitment to develop and promote mental health services.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure assessment of service users and analyse and interpret information gained to form an accurate formulation of risk and need.
- Work collaboratively with service users, staff, and carers to identify goals to determine and deliver an appropriate intervention/recovery plan which maximises engagement and performance whilst balancing risk, and promoting choice and independence.
- Monitor, evaluate and modify therapeutic interventions to measure progress and increase efficacy for the best possible service user outcomes and experience.
- Act as an experienced clinician supporting best practice in line with NICE guidance and professional standards.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership skills through the management of dedicated projects and approved quality improvement initiatives

- CPN with Community Experience
- Completed Preceptorship
- Completed Edward Jenner Programme / Leadership Training (RMN)
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience

- Significant experience at Band 5
- Evidence of post qualifying continued learning
- Experience of delivering clinical supervision
- Experience of developing learners and staff in the work place
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within the NHS
- Experience of being involved in service developments or audits
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Significant knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care e.g. Mental Capacity Act
- Knowledge and understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct
- A comprehensive understanding and ability to apply principles of risk assessment and risk management
- Good knowledge and practice of IT skills
Desirable criteria
- Ability to support and develop an environment which ensures effective clinical care and innovation
- An understanding of the broad aims of current national and local healthcare policy and an appreciation of the implications of this on clinical practice
