We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

Job overview

The successful candidate will support the Endoscopy clinical team in providing excellent standards of patient care in line with local and national guidance.

At the Blackburn site we see patients for planned and unplanned care having ERCP, EUS, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and Gastroscopy procedures.

We also provide care on an emergency basis to inpatients which sometimes involves mobilising equipment and working in ICU and Theatres to ensure our patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.

There will be the occasional requirement to work flexibly at our Burnley Endoscopy Units to cover if necessary.

Main duties of the job

After full induction and training the role will involve preparing the clinical area prior to the start of the list to ensure equipment is in good working order and recording this by checklist completion.

Once trained, the post holder will be assisting with a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on a daily basis.

There is a requirement to pay attention to detail and work with utmost accuracy as the post holder will contribute to obtaining, storing and transporting tissue samples to the laboratory for analysis along with some emergency cases.

At the end of the list, the post holder will assist to ensure all equipment is cleaned down, documentation and checklists are completed accurately, tissue samples dispatched to the laboratory and that the room is cleaned, restocked, prepared and ready for the next day.

Working for our organisation

We are proud to be JAG Accredited and this provides assurance to patients that we meet the required standards in Endoscopy .

We work with the Trust Vision and Values alongside the Behavioural Framework to ensure safe and effective teamwork and the successful candidate will be expected to familiarise with these and work within the same.
