NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

About the Department:

The Advanced Critical Care Outreach Team (ACCOT) sits within Lincoln County Hospitals’ Intensive Care Unit which is a modern, combined ICU and HDU. Since its inception in 2001, the Critical Care Outreach Team has evolved in its response to the needs of the deteriorating patient, providing a robust 24/7 service.

 The Role:

In 2021, the team obtained Advanced Clinical Practitioner status, a role that employs all elements of the HEE Multi-professional Framework and the four pillars of advanced practice. This trainee ACP CCOT post provides an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic, degree level registrant with recent extensive experience of managing the care of the deteriorating patient.

Main duties of the job

Management of such patients is a challenging and demanding role. It is an expectation that the individual will work to an advanced level of clinical practice, exercising autonomy, complex decision making, undertaken with varying levels of risk, all of which hold professional accountability for decisions made.

What we are looking for:

We are offering a substantive 37.5 hour contract for a Trainee / Trained Advanced Critical Care Outreach Practitioner to work within this experienced team of CCOT ACP’s who are committed to delivering high quality patient care. We seek an individual who has excelled within their area of practice and who has a passion to develop a career within Critical Care Outreach.

Working for our organisation

Under supervision, the successful candidate will undertake a Master’s Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice and Independent Prescribing whilst working clinically to an agreed set of competencies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The ideal candidate must have a passion for the deteriorating patient. With experience of multidisciplinary working and demonstrate excellent communication skills, they will be willing to develop their clinical and professional practice to meet the challenges of this exciting role.

We actively welcome applications from other Allied Health Professionals for example; physiotherapists, paramedics and pharmacists. Ability to train as an independent prescriber is an essential attribute. Recent Critical Care experience / Critical Care qualification is desirable but not essential.

If you already hold qualifications and experience as per the Band 8a Job Specification (attached), you will be considered to commence as a AfC Band 8a CCOT ACP subject to portfolio evidence and interview.
