Job overview

The Clinical Decision unit is a 12 bedded 6 chair area for inpatients on the emergency pathway. The Clinical Decision Unit provides high quality patient care to assess a patient’s medical condition, organise appropriate tests and further management to determine their need for inpatient admission.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Acute nursing experience within 12 months either as a Registered Nurse or Student Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • Acute surgical, medical ED experience within the last 12 months as a qualified nurse or student nurse

Skills/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • Ability to develop own clinical skills and widen theoretical knowledge
  • Understanding of the care needs of the family
  • Interest in developing teaching skills
  • Team work
  • Be able to work under pressure and prioritise care
  • Role and responsibility of the registered nurse in acute clinical environment
