Job overview

 

The Special School Nursing Team is a county wide service consisting of nurses and healthcare support workers who are based within the Special Schools. We work within the primary and secondary schools in Northamptonshire and deliver the healthy child programme which includes health promotion to ensure children and young people with additional healthcare needs can access their full educational curriculum. We work closely with our colleagues in the community, acute, social and education settings. We delivery competency based training programme to the Special School teams, working in partnership with schools to meet the needs of the children and young people

Main duties of the job

 

The post holder will be lone working in other settings and we want to recruit a forward thinking, dynamic healthcare support worker into this permanent position. The post holder will be part of a developing and progressing service working with colleagues who present with enthusiasm for innovative and high standards of practice and be able to work autonomously. 

 

As a healthcare support worker the post holder will be working alongside the special school nurses who are responsible for managing allocated school caseloads, the role requires you work alongside children and young people with varying needs, health needs, to support and to present health promotion sessions tailored to meet the needs of the caseload, to carry out delegated appropriate tasks such as blood pressure monitoring, reviewing height and weight, support with  immunisation clinics and work in collaboration with other agencies. The post holder will support with the administration processes in the team such as registering children and young people, coordinating clinic sessions for immunisations.
