An exciting opportunity to join the Maternity Team to manage, lead and develop the service user engagement and experience function within Maternity, ensuring service provision meets all statutory obligations and mandatory local/national objectives.
The post holder will lead on all aspects of the service co-ordination, which includes service user experience, as well as service user engagement across Maternity Services.
The post holder will ensure compliance with national standards for service user experience and engagement management. They will work closely with Clinicians, Managers and Pathway Leads to ensure that the Specialties/Departments are using service user experience and feedback to provide optimum quality and experience of care in line with national healthcare standards.
The post holder will provide strong leadership within Maternity and be highly visible and accessible to staff, students and other learners. Leading by example, he/she will drive up standards of service user experience and engagement and have the authority to get the essential components of this right for staff – ensuring quality in service user experience and engagement.
Main duties of the job
To work as the Matron and assist the PALS, Patient Experience/ Complaints Managers to further develop and promote patient experience. Focus on patients, relatives, carers and visitors to the Trust:
To lead and be accountable for delivery of National Patient Survey programmes internal patient experience surveys and feedback and Friends and Family Test across the organisation.
The post holder will lead on all aspects of the service co-ordination, which includes service user experience, as well as service user engagement across Maternity Services. They will be the lead contact for the Trust and work in partnership with Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Maternity Voices Partnership. The post holder will ensure compliance with national standards for service user experience and engagement management.
Report to Lead for Patient Experience and Engagement updating on patient and carer experience objectives (including PALS) quarterly; updating on current performance for annual reports to Trust Board and other reports as required.
Support the development and management of the Trust Patient Experience & Engagement Steering Group; attend other committees/groups as required.
Develop and facilitate the patient and carer stories at all levels of the
Trust, including at Trust Board and support development of patient stories at various forums/training events/etc.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current NMC Registration.
- Educated to Master’s degree or significant equivalent work experience / post basic training.
- Expert knowledge of Service User Experience and Engagement Agenda’s and good general knowledge of PALS Services.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working across organisational and professional boundaries in the development of healthcare services.
- Facilitation of inter-professional learning.
- Project management experience.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute or community NHS setting.
- Experience of managing Service User experience and engagement services
- Experience working in acute care areas
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of PALS, Complaints, Carers and Service User Engagement Management.
