Are you a registered Nurse with an anaesthetic qualification or an Operating Department Practitioner with acute experience in the NHS?

Are you a newly qualifying Nurse with an anaesthetic qualification or Operating Department Practitioner who will be completing study in the next 6 months?
If so, we are recruiting Theatre Practitioners with acute NHS experience across both our City and QMC Campuses.

Please note, that due to ongoing service developments the post holder may be required cross site at our other Theatre Complex with the agreement of the Speciality Team Leader.

Must have theatre experience.
Expectations to deliver a high standard of service with patient safety and quality are a priority. You should be able to demonstrate effective team working and work to the highest standards of evidence based practice.
We practice multi-skilling and are looking to recruit a dynamic Practitioner who wishes to develop their practice in either anaesthetic and/or surgical scrub support.
You will have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Communication Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate effective written communication skills
- Able to use power point, word and excel to produce documents and presentations
- Recognises own role as part of the multi-disciplinary team and encourages high standards
- Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate Computer literacy & use of IT skills – e.g. e-mail, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Experience, Analytical and Judgement
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Theatre/Recovery role
- Ability to identify own learning needs
- Demonstrate an understanding of the deputy team leader role
- Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to patients, relatives/carers and staff
- Supervision of non-registered staff, pre-registration, and students
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse, or project work
- Previous theatre experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current level one NMC registration or HCPC registration
- Recognised Anaesthetic practice qualification
Desirable criteria

- Evidence of continued professional development
Physical Skills
Essential criteria
- Physically able to perform the full range of personal care and clinical nursing duties
- Ability to undertake manual handling duties within clinical and non-clinical settings including patient load, lateral transfer, log rolling, patient positioning for theatre
- Ability to wear PPE such as surgical facemask, lead aprons, and laser goggles
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of AHLS/BLS training
