Job overview

Wrexham CAMHS is excited to be expanding our provision to local communities. Our vision is to enhance early intervention provision to children, young people and their families by increasing access to early help at the right time, in the right place, from the right people. We will achieve this by increasing capacity available to community colleagues such as schools, GP’s, third sector and other multi-agency providers.

To support this vision, we are recruiting to a Senior Community CAMHS Practitioner post at Band 7, based primarily in GP surgeries in Wrexham. Successful candidates will provide a range of functions such as consultation and training, mental health assessments and delivery of evidence-based interventions in the community. In addition, they will have a solid understanding of the Mental Health Measure Wales 2010.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

It is expected that the successful candidate will support the further development of effective working relationships with colleagues from community agencies, including third sector and statutory providers. Effective leadership skills and relevant service development experience is required.

Applicants will need to be compliant with the professional requirements as determined by Mental Health Measure 2010 and should have a relevant professional and registered qualification relating to Health or Social Care E.g. Clinical Psychology, Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social work and be able to demonstrate a high level of competence, knowledge and skills (underpinned by knowledge of effective risk assessment and relevant evidence-based practice) which is crucial to this role. Substantial experience in offering consultation and delivering training is essential. Service evaluation will also be key to this role.

The successful applicant must be flexible in their approach to work, adaptable, and have a willingness to embrace change as and when required. The ability to use initiative when dealing with unexpected situations is also an advantage.

We are keen to recruit people with a passion for early intervention work and we would strongly encourage any candidates interested in the role to contact us for further discussion about the service
