THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 20 MONTHS DUE TO MATERNITY COVER.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 CNS Nutritional support (CNSNS) to support nursing service on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. 

Under the direction and supervision of the Lead and deputy Lead CNS Nutrition Support, the post holder will work as an effective member of the CNSNS and the Nutrition Support Team (NST) for the Health Board.

Main duties of the job

The essence of this post is its practical nature to provide specialist advice direct and indirect clinical care on the effective management of nutrition support. It involves clinical contact with patients (including families, formal and informal carers), Nursing, medical and professions allied to health support the Health Board in maintaining and improving nutritional care across North Wales. An integral member of the nursing team and nutrition support team (NST) in each region and across North Wales, the post holder will support the integration and maintenance of the All Wales Nutrition Pathway. Identifying areas for improvements that are associated with specialist artificial nutritional support and upholding the values of BCUHB surrounding quality and safety are key to the success of the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Adept at IT skills using the full range of computer programmes e.g. word, excel, PPT and data bases; be able to produce reports using IT to demonstrate work undertaken and display using appropriate statistical testing and analysis.
  • ANTT
  • Wound care and associated assessments
  • Competency through theoretical and practical training NGT insertion and care.
Desirable criteria
  • Competency in range of duties associated with gastrostomy care e.g. bedside replacement gastrostomy
  • Competency in delivery of PN as a therapy – IV care ANTT, fluid balance and electrolyte management
  • Phlebotomy IV cannula / device placement
