Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to join our enthusiastic and committed community midwifery team primarily based in Buckingham but covering a wide range of areas across the county. You will be leading a team who are committed to the on-going promotion of women-centred care. You will also be joining an organisation that offers excellent career development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Band 7 Team Leader for Community Midwives
As a team leader you will co-ordinate the team and use your knowledge and experience to support the midwives in the team. You will case load your patients, providing continuity and support.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Evidence of continuing professional development and its application
- ENB 997
Desirable criteria
- Diploma / Degree level
- ALSO course
- NALS course
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Clinical Skills ie perineal suturing, IV Cannulation
- Understanding of learning and teaching styles and their application
- Ability to act as a mentor for Midwives, students and MCAs, skilled in teaching trained and untrained staff, carers and patients
- Excellent communication skills with all members of the team, patients and relatives
- Good verbal and written English which can be evidenced at interview or IELTs level 7 (in all elements) or above
- Demonstrates effective management in the clinical environment
- Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
- Good previous attendance record
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of managerial development
- IT literate on Microsoft Office and Excel
SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
- Clinical Skills ie perineal suturing, IV Cannulation
- Ability to act as a PA/PS for students
- Excellent communication skills with all members of the team, patients and relatives
- Good verbal and written English which can be evidenced at interview
- Demonstrates effective management in the clinical environment
- Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of managerial development
- IT literate on Microsoft Office and Excel
- Experience of roster management
- Experience of involvement in clinical audit
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Essential criteria
- Ability to drive and cover night on-calls for birth setting
