This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic multi-disciplinary team, working to enhance care for patients living with epilepsy across our service.
You will have the opportunity to develop and advance your clinical skills and specialist knowledge in epilepsy through both in-house and external training, tailored to your individual needs and the requirements of the department.
We offer access to expert clinical supervision and mentorship to support your professional growth and ensure the delivery of high-quality, effective, and compassionate care. The post holder will play a key role in improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, in line with NICE guidelines and national epilepsy care standards.
This is a cross-site role, requiring flexibility and collaboration across locations. You will work closely with consultants, neurologists, and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide patient-centred care, education, and support. The role includes developing advanced clinical assessment skills, contributing to service development, and supporting patients in both outpatient and community settings
Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist epilepsy nursing service incorporating:
o Hospital and Primary Care based nurse led clinics including dedicated preconceptual counseling clinics and adolescent handover clinics.
o Telephone liaison service
o Liason with medical teams including emergency department within the hospital o Drop-in service with hospital and community visits as required
o Support systems for clients who are newly diagnosed with epilepsy
• To support the consultant neurologists, Operational Services Manager and the Head of Nursing with the implementation of the NSF for Long Term Conditions and in working with the local networks in the modernization of services.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (1st level) with current NMC registration.
- Recognised clinical competencies in epilepsy care.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) relevant to epilepsy.
Desirable criteria
- Independent Nurse Prescriber.
- Independent Nurse Prescriber.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience.
- Experience working with patients with epilepsy or neurological conditions
- Experience managing own caseload and working autonomously.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in managing complex conditions and co-morbidities.
- Involvement in service development or research
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- In-depth understanding of epilepsy presentation and management.
- Familiarity with national epilepsy guidelines (e.g., NICE).
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of epilepsy care pathways and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
