Advanced Nurse Practitioner
for the Rapid Diagnostic Assessment Centre (for Cancer)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse with Advanced Clinical practice skills, and the ability to work independently, to join our team!
As the ANP, you will provide expert, evidence based advice and clinical expertise within cancer services.

This role may suit a nurse who has worked in either acute, Cancer or Primary care, with confidence in assessing and carrying out diagnostic tests, with the full support of the GP's within the service.
The successful applicant will lead the Non site Specific (NSS) Cancer pathway for Croydon, providing specialist nursing support, treatment and leadership as part of the management and consultant team. Good working knowledge of cancer is advantageous but not a must.
This will include autonomous practice, assessment and treatment of patients and developing new areas of practice ensuring all quality standards are met.
The RDAC clinics run on the main site at Croydon Hospital and also at Purley War Memorial.

Main duties of the job
The clinical workload primarily covers all the rapid diagnostic vague symptoms pathway, from triage assessment to clinical reviews and onward referrals, or discharging back to primary care including telephone assessment clinics to determine suitability for straight to diagnostic tests or face to face nurse led clinics.
The ANP will work with a CNS and x 2 GP's in clinics within the acute trust, running your own patient assessment clinics or follow up clinics.
They will be responsible for:
- Triaging patients referred on to RDAC,
- Support outpatient clinics and telephone clinics
- Follow up with clinical reviews, and referring patients onto appropriate pathways
- Involving patients and their families in the planning and development of the Rapid diagnostic pathway
- Attending MDTs
- Leading the service
They must therefore be:
- An excellent communicator, with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, committed to collaborative working with other health and social care professionals
- Experienced in Cancer nursing, diagnostics and advanced assessment skills ideally educated with MSc or working towards.
Some experience in setting up services and understanding cancer pathways is advantageous but not essential.

Essential criteria
- NMC registered
- Advanced assessment skills - level 7
- NMP -Level 7 - completed
- working toward completing MSc if not completed
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experienced in working independently , with clinical reasoning and decision making skills
- Experience in clinical leadership and managing a MDT
- excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for patient care and supporting cancer
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of service development
- Evidence in involvement in research
Working Knowledge of cancer standards
Essential criteria
- aware of national cancer standards
- Full understanding and experience of at least one cancer pathway
